HIGHER PURPOSE OF EACH ASTROLOGICAL SIGN–ONE SENTENCE EACH

“Connecting the seen with the unseen,” by Deborah Smith Parker

For many people, many nations, regardless of politics, the past few months have ushered in a dark, confusing and even terrifying hard-felt period of change moving into . . . what?  More fear and anxiety? This is where (again) the many benefits of astrology apply.

The principles of astrology help us distinguish between phenomena (physical movements and actions) and principle (drives/guides movements and actions to express a primal will to good) and their relationship to each other (planetary placement, aspects). We come to understand that no matter how many seemingly “ignorant armies clash by night,” (thank you, Matthew Arnold), there is an over-all guiding purpose at work. Much of this we don’t perceive until seeing it in our rear-view mirrors, if even then.

The main point that I always hold is that we are never in total darkness. Each sign of the zodiac is a spoke in the wheel of the eternal zodiac moving us through cycles of ever evolving growth, change and rebirth that shift our environment along with our perception of and orientation to it. To not put the two together results in the equivalent of one hand clapping.

At this time of the Spring Equinox and the renewing energy it brings, I offer a brief guide. Following is my description of each sign of the zodiac’s unique expression and relationship to the Light, represented in our solar system by our Sun.

I, Aries, am the Light always rising in the east, a blazing path into each new dawn for others to follow.

I, Taurus, catch the Light as it touches earth to make fire in the mud that nourishes all new growth.

I, Gemini, seek each intersection of the Light, every divide, for there are always choices and all paths must be explored.

I, Cancer, nourish in my womb the quickening by Light of each seed conceived in all unions.

I, Leo, radiate Light from the heart of every matter as freely as a child gives love.

I, Virgo, carry in my hands the Light that nurtures every tiny seed, each grain of wheat, for they must be perfectly ripe before being offered as flour for the bread.

I, Libra, witness the Light in all its extremities, and no matter what its distance or destination I give testimony to its one source.

I, Scorpio, bear the Light into the darkest regions that all fear but all must know, and when they know at last, they carry the Light into every death.

I, Sagittarius, soar high in screamingly ecstatic blazing dissolution into the dying of the Light.

I, Capricorn, use my stone walls to guard the Light at its lowest flickering point so it may thrive to climb to its highest destiny.

I, Aquarius, know Light must be freed from every prison cell to illumine the lamp of knowledge in every mind.

I, Pisces diffuse the Light throughout the depths of the Great Sea, leaving no drop of water in total darkness.

May we all know and share the blessings of the One Light of love and consciousness that grow in all our hearts and minds, shining from the stars.

About author:

Deborah Smith Parker is re-writing the often impenetrable language of astrology into a much friendlier form. She has spent her 30 plus years as an astrological consultant, writer, teacher and lecturer freeing the rich astrological images and their descriptions increasingly buried under modern clinical and technological descriptions. Her additional work in public policy has provided many outlets for demonstrating her ability to break down highly complex systems into information that’s easily understood.
